    Job Interview Tips 

    We understand that job interviews can be nerve-racking and this is why we wanted to provide you with some tips to help.

    Preparing 

    • Research the company and its people, interviewers want to know you understand what their company is all about. This will help you feel much more prepared and calm when asked questions relating to their business and industry.
    • Create a list of typical interview questions, for example; What do you think you bring to our company? This will help deliver your answers with confidence.
    • Read back through your CV and think about how to meet the requirements of the job advertised.
    • It is very important to read the job description and person specification, this will allow you to assess your abilities on how you have the skills.
    • Make notes on your previous experiences to help match how these may be suitable for your future role.
    • Have a think about what your strengths and weaknesses are, this is one of the most asked questions within an interview.
    • To show your interest within the position, prepare some questions about the role and the company for the end of the interview.

    The interview

    • Make a good first impression, ensure you look well dressed, clean and presentable.
    • Be on time, bring a notepad and pen to record important information.
    • Show your interest in the role and the company by acknowledging all questions asked.
    • Always maintain eye contact with the interviewer throughout the interview when asked questions.
    • Use certain terminology used within the industry will show you have an understanding and previous experience.
    • Remain confident throughout the interview.
    • When asked a question, think about your answer.  Speak clearly and calmly, do not go into panic and waffle.
    • If you are unsure on a question, ask the interviewer to repeat the question to think about this again.
    • Ask questions at the end of your interview to show your interest. This will show that you have done your research.
    • If not informed, ask when you should expect to hear back.

    Follow up 

    • Always ask for feedback regardless if you are successful or unsuccessful, this will help prepare for future interviews.
    • Contact the company to find out their decision, if you have not heard back from them. This would depend on their response time given at the interview.
